And that's the Devils for you!
With 78-57, the Duke Blue Devils defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers, earning them a place in the championship that eluded them since winning in the finals nine years ago.
The main players? #30 Jon Scheyer scored 23 points. #12 Kyle Singler did in 21 points. #02 Nolan Smith scored 19 points and six assist. Their perfomances only proved how frightening the Devils are when everyone is playing exemplary. #55 Brian Zoubek finished with 10 rebounds and five on the offensive glass. Well, rebounds and defense had been their secret in winning their games this season.
West Virginia probably lost all hopes for the championship when #01 Da'Sean Butler wrecked his left knee - the player who made West Virginia's road to the Final Four visible.
Duke is now headed to the school's fourth championship despite missing a true superstar or an NBA pick.
“Yeah, it was a great team effort today,” Scheyer said. “West Virginia’s a great team. We did it the same way, with defense, rebounding.”
On Monday, Big meets up with Little, as Duke faces off with Butler.
With the national title on the line, may the best team win.
